programs
Dance Works Academy offers 3 types of program :
Recreational - this program offers dance classes in all styles that are fun and creative. With a primary focus on choreography and performance the Rec program is a great opportunity for beginner or recreational dancers to learn the basic skills involved in their dance style of choice. Experienced dancers can benefit from these classes by using them to polish their own technique and gain more performance and choreography experience
Professional - this program offers the more serious dancer an opportunity to challenge themselves and showcase their talents at competitions locally and on the mainland. Competition classes require more dedication than recreational classes but also offer students many opportunities and performance experiences. Dance Works prides itself on having a positive and exciting program.
Exam and Professional Development Program - We have always been committed to encouraging serious dancers to pursue their dreams of professional careers. This requires years of training and hard work. Unlike the recreational dancer, PDP students will study more dance classes per week and start to build the strength and technique required to become a serious and technical dancer. The PDP program is a combination of technical and recreational classes. This program is for the serious students who wishes to turn their love for the performing arts into a possible career path. Whether you wish to be a dance instructor or pursue a career dancing professionally, our PDP program will give you the stepping stones to get there. For those wishing to teach, we can guide you through the examination process and all the way up to a teacher’s certification level. Penny Hudson can mentor students who wish to pursue a Diploma from the Royal Academy's Teachers Training Program.
